Back to real life

Paris was Ah-mazing!
I had forgotten just how much I love that city.
I wish I could have taken more time off school and satyed longer. We had just enought time to see all the usual tourist haunts: the Effiel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Arc of Triumph, the Catacombes, the Louvre and all the other popular places to see.

We also had time to shop on Champs Elysees a couple times (wasn’t very cheap, but totally awesome), find as many starbucks as possible, count all the people walking around with baguettes (at least 30 each day), ride around on the metro without any destination in mind and meet up with a friend that lives in Paris.

We stumbled our way through communicating in french (we remembered less french than we thought), we bought alcohol from a grocery store, drank wine at lunch, ate ‘real’ french food and had a waiter thinking we tipped him because he was hot (which he was, but we tipped him because he was a good waiter).

Unfortunately, I still wasn’t able to see a cabaret at Moulin Rouge, which is something I really want to do. And I had a scare the somebody had gotten access to my bank account and emptied it out because my card stopped working and the bank was telling me I had no more money to take out. Luckily I had just used my limit of out of country withdrawls.

I am now a couple hundred dollars poorer, but I have a bunch of new memories that make it worht it. I’m already trying to plan when I’ll be able to swing another trip out there.

Maybe this summer when my bestie comes to visit?

Disappointment

I hate disappointment.
That has to be one of the worst feelings I know of. Whether I’m diasspointed in myself, people around me or in things that have(n’t) happened, it sucks.

The newest disappointment I’m facing right now is my cancelled trip to California.
It is now 2 years since the last time I was stateside.
Translated:
2 years since I have had Del Taco, In n Out, Legends.
2 years since I’ve seen the majority of my family
2 years since I have seen my 3 besties in the entire world
2 years since I have had PinkBerry or ColdStone
2 years since I have been able to hear everyone around me speaking my favorite language (english)
2 years since I have felt real warmth
2 years since I’ve been able to see a movie when it comes out, and not 4 months later
2 years since I’ve been to the beach/boardwalk
2 years since I’ve been to an amusement park
2 years since I have had normal food

This feels like a repeat of my Euro Trip/Epic Fail with my cousin. We had this amazing plan for all the places we were going to travel, and it all fell through because of the stupid rules americans have when the travel abroad.

This time though, my disappointment comes in the form of exams. Two of my exams are scheduled for the week I was planning on coming back. Go fucking figure.

Why not go a little bit later you ask?
Turns out the I have two more exams right after easter vacation too. FML.

Why not take some time off school you ask?
Not even I am smart enough to be able to take 2 weeks of schools between exams and still hope to pass with good grades. And anything less than 2 weeks in the States wouldn’t be worth the money I have to dish out.

The silver lining?
2 of my besties are (hopefully) gonna find a way to come out here. Its not the same, but its definitely the next best thing. A little taste of California is better than nothing at all.

Oh, and there’s always Paris next week. At least that didn’t fall through.

C’est la vie

Life, life, life. Right now I love you.

  • Had my first exam of the semester today. It went really well.
Not that I thought it was going to go bad or anything.
Its just nice to know all that studying paid off.P031210_13.43
  • Its really starting to feel like Christmas season here in Bergen. The pond thing in town is frozen solid now, so people are allowed to go ice skating around the huge Christmas tree in middle of it. Its really pretty, but I don’t dare try it. I get
these flashes of the ices breaking and me suffering a cold, horrible death if I even get near the ice. Hehe.
  • Me and one of my roommates finally planned our trip to Paris! Yay. We
just have to wait until payday so that we can afford the tickets.
It’ll be 5 days/4 nights right in the heart of Paris. I LOVE IT!
Looks like somebody has to touch up on their french soon.

Two more exams until its Christmas vacation for me. I can’t wait because that  also means its not long until my 21st birthday! Like I said… Life, I love you.
